Subsea 7 has been awarded a sizable contract from Talos Energy for work on the Sunspear development in Green Canyon Block 78 in the Gulf of Mexico, the subsea services company announced in an April 12 press release.
The project involves the subsea tie back of a Sunspear production well to the Prince platform 12 km to the north. Subsea7 will install the flowline and related subsea equipment at water depths of 500 m.
Subsea7 defines a sizeable contract as being between $50 million and $150 million. Offshore work on the project is scheduled to begin later this year.
